Cabella's

My boys clearing the driveway and sidewalk of snow

Since Spokane does not have a zoo... the next best thing is a trip to Cabella's

Ryan

Connor loves his cousin Ryan!
Playing inside his fort.  The balloons hanging from the top are "lanterns."  What a cute imagination this kid has.
I can't get enough of these boys!

Ryan in his super cool spider-man pj's and Connor in his favorite spider pj's
Jason reading a bedtime story
The boys sitting at the top of the stairs with spider-man... Jason was at the bottom of the stairs shooting stomp rockets up the stairs and the boys would try to catch them.

Crazy February

Jason left Monaco mid January and was out of work for a month.  While he was home he made this robot with Connor.

Connor is really into bugs right now.  Snakes and spiders are his favorites.  So, for breakfast I made him this snake pancake.
My WSU clinical group in the lab.  My clinical group is composed of 4- 4 semester students and 4- 5 semester students.  Most of which are ESL (English is a second language).  This group is amazing!  I think I'm the only person in the group (aside from our instructor) who doesn't speak multiple other languages.  We have 3 men in the group from Ethiopia, who all speak 3-6 languages, 2 ladies from Somalia, 2 ladies from Russia and then there is me and my instructor, who are the only pale skin Spokane natives.

Library Science

Mobius had a Science Project day at the Airway Heights Library!  The Chemist had some fun experiments for the kids with a wealth of information.  Connor loved it.  He started with 3 beakers filled with an indicator, acid and base.  By pouring one liquid into the next the colors changed from clear to pink to clear.  Next up he used a glass bottle with chemicals to blow up a balloon with hydrogen gas, which he popped at the end of the show.

Red fire tornado made from strontium nitrate and accelerant.  A fire tornado forms when fire is caught up in a vortex.
Green fire tornado made with boric acid and methanol, which Connor thought was super cool!
melting a styrofoam head (Steve) by pouring acetone over the top.  Styrofoam is made of polystyrene that is inflated with lots of air.  The acetone releases the air.

He filled a bowl with soapy water and used a spray can with pressurized flammable propellant to create bubbles in the bowl.  Then he dipped his hand into the bowl and put a small amount of bubble in his hand and lit the bubble on fire in his hand.  The kids were amazed with this experiment, so he did it several times.

Today 2-9-13 Connor also said his first lie.  He asked Jason in the den if he could watch a cartoon.  Jason said no.  Connor then came into the kitchen and asked me if he could watch a cartoon.  I replied with "Did you already ask your dad?"  Since he's recently started asking each of us separately hoping to get the answer he wants.  His response was "yes" Me: "what did dad say?"  Connor looked up at the ceiling for a second and then smiled real big and said "He said yes"  His response seemed a little off to me so I asked Jason if he said Yes to a cartoon.  To our knowledge this was Connor's very first lie.
That same evening he was told to go up to his bedroom and put his PJ's on and brush his teeth.  He came downstairs in his PJ's and when we asked if he brushed his teeth he responded with "yes."  Jason smelled his breath and confirmed he lied.  Connor then apologized and admitted he had not brushed his teeth.  He has officially entered the developmental stage of being able to deceive his parents now.  Booo

Tina's Birthday

We didn't have a sitter, so the boys stayed home while I joined Tina, Shelly, Aric and Randy at the Northern Quest Casino for some slots.  Tina is a lot like me... not a gambler.  After a few hours of playing the slots she lost her $20 and decided to call it a night.  I enjoyed watching Shelly and Tina gamble and rooting for them to win.  I never actually gambled any money myself though.  I did gamble 30 cents for Shelly though at her request while she ran off to get more money.. and amazingly I won her 20 bids and several dollars.  Maybe I should have tried my luck?!?

Another beautiful drawing by Connor.  The large black drawing is a spider with several eyes and legs (he will tell you that all spiders have 8 eyes and 8 legs, but his spider drawings often have more than 8).  The red to the left is a baby spider and the purple on the right is a squid.

Super Bowl

We joined Aunt Staci and Uncle Tony for the Super Bowl.
Connor finally got to give Aunt Staci her Christmas gifts... and the Valentines card he made.

Connor lost interest in the football game so, he snuggled in their bed with a movie instead
Tony, Staci, Rocco and Jason
Connor and Rocco playing tug-a-war.  I think Rocco is winning.  He has 10 pounds on Connor.
