T-ball

Grandma and Grandpa came up to see one of Connor's T-ball games... and to visit with Kaiden since they haven't seen him since the hospital.

Grandpa's knees are shot.  He's having his right knee replaced in a few weeks.  Connor helped Grandpa walk to the car.

Kaiden might be 10 pounds, but he's still too small to convince Grandpa to hold him.

Hallett kindergarten musical

All 3 kindergarten classes put on a year end musical performance.  We were told the week prior to the performance that the theme was "on the farm" and all the kids were to dress up in farm animal costumes.  Nothing like trying to figure out a costume at the last minute.  Connor said he wanted to be a chicken.  I bought a feather mask and felt to make a chicken mask, but Jason wanted to be able to see his face... so we found a duck visor and called it good.  I really didn't think any of the kids would have actual costumes, but surprisingly there were quiet a few.

Connor spotted Jason when he took the stage.  Jason stood in the back to video tape, while I sat with Kaiden and took pictures.

Connor's buddy Caden is to the left and Cheyenne is to the right.  Cheyenne also attended the same pre-school with Connor.  She was just over a pound at birth and the smallest in her class.

My adorable little duck.  The performance was 30 minutes long and the kids sang a bunch of songs.
My little superman was awake for the performance, but sat calmly in his car seat as I rotated between rocking his seat and taking pictures.   Luckily he didn't make a peep, so I was able to watch the entire performance!

smiles

Kaiden does not hand out smiles often... at least not while he's awake anyway.  He's a very vivid dreamer and smiles and laughs a lot while he's sleeping, but while he's awake we mainly see his skeptical and serious face.  This morning Jason was playing with Kaiden though and rubbing his feet on Jason's "pokies" as Connor calls them (aka whiskers) and Kaiden was cracking up.  Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough with my camera to get any real good smiles, but I did catch a few cricked little half smiles.

We took a trip to Cabela's to check out all their cool animals (stuffed of course) and to get Connor his first fishing pole.  He found a Spider-man fishing pole that lights up.  Jason and Connor also played at the shooting range.  I love how Connor closes one eye to aim.

Trantum hike

We met the Trantum's at Bowl and Pitcher at Riverside State Park for a hike.  Aside from doctor appointments this was Kaiden's first real outing... and it was definitely an interesting one.  To start with we were late meeting the Trantum's because we had to stop and buy a state park parking pass.  Then right after I took the picture below with Connor pushing Kaiden in the stroller, Kaiden decided to get cranky so I put on the backpack and when Jason picked Kaiden up to load him into the backpack we discovered why Kaiden was cranky... his first ever outing and his first ever blow up!  He had pooh up his back and everywhere.  Oh yeah!  In the middle of the state park with no bathroom in site.  We laid him in the stroller on a blanket, stripped him naked and cleaned him up with wet wipes.  Then as I'm digging through the diaper bag for a clean outfit Jason flips him over to make sure his back is cleaned up really good and lays him face down on the blanket he was laying on when he exploded... which also has pooh on it.  Fun times!  But after we got the pooh cleaned off his cheek and got him re-dressed... we loaded him in the backpack and we were ready for our hike.  Luckily just as we finished cleaning him up a park ranger came by and had a garbage bin on his truck for us to throw the horrible diaper mess away in.  Tina would have killed me if I had littered and left the diaper mess, but there really was no way to bring it with us, so thank you ranger!

Once Kaiden was in the backpack.. Connor decided to jump in the stroller and hitch a ride

Shortly after we joined the Trantum's the boys found this huge rock... which all the boys climbed to the top (except Kaiden, who was snug as a bug in the backpack snoozing away).

me and Kaiden.  He slept for the majority of the hike
All the boys (minus Kaiden): Jakob, Aric, Zach, Connor and Jason
our little family: Connor, Jason, me and Kaiden
Tina was so anxious to hold Kaiden.  After we crossed the bridge by the Bowl and Pitcher we stopped for a break.  The boys all used the restroom and played some catch with a football, while we rested for a bit.

Kaiden and Jakob.  Jakob would make an excellent big brother.  He loves little kids.

Kaiden.  He always has a skeptical/serious look on his face.

We sat on the picnic table to rest.  I sat in the only shaded area to feed Kaiden a bottle... and found out later it was also the only area of the table that someone had smeared charcoal from the fire pit on too.  I thought it was graffiti when I sat down, nope turns out it was charcoal and my entire butt was black when I stood up.

I carried Kaiden the entire time on the walk to the rest stop, then after the rest stop Jason pushed Kaiden in the stroller back.  When we hit the paved trail on the way back Connor decided to jump on the stroller and hitch a ride.  We walked about 4 miles... most of which Connor walked too.  He only rode in the stroller for a few minutes in the beginning and a few in the end.
That evening Jason and Connor decided to camp out in the backyard.  They both slept in Connor's Spider-man tent all night.  Maybe next year Kaiden and I can join them in camping.  I'm sure Jason got more sleep than I did... even if he was folded in half to squeeze in Connor's tent.  Kaiden wakes up every 2-3 hours to eat during the night and lately he's been having trouble sleeping after 2:00am... which means I'm not getting any sleep after 2:00am either.
Before bed we had a camp fire and roasted marshmallows for s'mores.
