I've been wanting to try a Boba tea, so Channing and I went to the Boba store in the valley mall on our lunch break from work. I ordered a pineapple drink with coconut gel, which I later found out its made with a pineapple powder, nondairy creamer and coconut gel which is the consistency of jello jigglers. Boba tea is made with 1/2 tea, 1/2 milk and has tapioca pearls. About 15 minutes after I drank 3/4 of my drink I had a horrible headache in the back of my head and 30 minutes later I was vomiting. I ended up having to cancel my last 2 patients of the day and go home. I soaked in the tub for 1 hour and researched the heck out of what could have caused my issue. I get a similar headache (feels like a pressure headache in the back of your head/neck) if I eat star burst, skittles, hard/chewy candies. Come to find out there is a huge law suit against the MARS candy company right now because they put Titanium dioxide, which is a toxic, cancer causing preservative in their candy. Titanium Dioxide is ban in other countries, but the FDA allows it to be used in the US. Not fun. I don't know for sure, but I think titanium dioxide was either added to the power mix or the coconut gel for my drink. The next day Channing and I decided to try out one of the 100+ restaurants participating in restaurant week in Spokane. We decided to try out Prohibition Gastro Pub. Good choice, the food was amazing! I had the strawberry salad, bootlegger burger and creme brulee. Channing had the szechuan green beans, bootlegger burger and apple and strawberry crisp. We each got their bourbon specialty drink too, which was horrible! The food was amazing, the drink sucked. But neither of us have ever drank bourbon before so maybe that was a bad choice.
