Hawk Assembly

Hallette Elementary school mascot is the Hawk.  The kids earn Hawk slips every time they go above and beyond to impress their teachers and the school officials.  Then each month one child that stands out of the bunch is chosen to receive a Hawk award at the school assembly.  Every day at recess Connor helps the recess monitor to keep the kids in line, pick up the play ground and anything else that she needs help with.  Which means every day Connor earns a Hawk slip from her.  Plus he helps his teacher in the classroom and earns even more Hawk slips.  Needless to say Connor was chosen to receive the first Hawk award of the year!  We are so proud of you Connor for being so selfless, respectful and responsible.  Congratulation Connor!

The assembly was at the end of the day, so afterwards we took Connor out for some ice cream to celebrate.  Unfortunately we drove all over Cheney looking for an ice cream store and discovered the only place in town that had ice cream was McDonald's.  Connor chose a vanilla ice cream cone dipped in chocolate coating.  The cashier saw him checking out the happy meal prizes and surprised him with one of the toys along with his ice cream cone.
sneak peak at Connor's Halloween costume this year.  Originally he wanted to be a spider, which I had already been contemplating how I was going to create a spider costume for him.  Then Jason spotted this Hulk costume at Costco and Connor loved it.  I wish it was one size bigger, but this was the biggest size they had and Connor loves it, so I guess this will work.

Jason ran the Colbert Autumn Half marathon!  He ran the entire 13.1 miles on paved and gravel roads with 450 feet in elevation and several Huge hills!  We drove the course after his run so he could show me exactly where he ran and the hills were incredible.  Great job Honey!!
Connor learned a new board game.. Chess!  Jason and I love playing Chess and now Connor can play with us too.
 bring it on Dad!
Ryan came over for a sleep over.  Every time Ryan spends the night the boys play dress up and Ryan is always Spiderman and Connor is always Batman.  I love these boys!

Nana and Grandpa

We went up to visit my parents on Sunday with three purposes...

Connor getting some snuggle time in with Nana and Buster
one- to give them a Congratulations on being a new Grandparent card.  I also included in the envelop the last ultra sound pictures and...
two- a gift card for their anniversary.
It took Nana a minute to figure it out, but once she did both her and Grandpa were excited.  And the following day I think all my relatives knew I was pregnant.  She couldn't wait to share the news with everyone.
Jason and Connor chillen' on the couch
three- to pick out our pumpkins that Grandpa grew in his garden this year.

JDRF

We joined the Trantum's for our annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk.

 Tina, Jason and Connor
Aric, Zack, Tina, Jakob, Jason and Connor

I almost told Tina that I was pregnant at the walk, but decided we should probably tell Connor before we tell anyone else.  At this point the only people we've told are: my doctor, my clinical instructor, my nursing adviser, my nursing friend Olesya and Jason's friend Scott.  After the race we told Connor he's going to be a big brother.  As I expected he was very excited about the news. Then we told Jason's parents by phone and they were ecstatic about the news too.

valleyfest

Jason ran the 10K valleyfest race to support Down Syndrome in the morning, then Connor and I met him there to check out the sites.

first we had some fun at Discovery Park.  There were 2 guys making balloon animals.  Connor got a purple puma.
then we strolled past the car show to meet up with Greg and Joanna
The Spokane Valley stocks Mirabeau Point pond with fish for little kids to fish out for free.  All the fish that get caught are then donated for a free meal for the homeless.
Volunteers cast the line out and wait for a bite and then hand the fishing rod to the kids to reel the fish in.  The kids were fishing off the lower dock (where we are) and also from the higher dock that you can see behind us in the picture.
Connor reeling his fish in.  This was his first time fishing and he loved it!
look at that huge smile on his face
I wasn't sure if he would actually hold the fish after he caught it, but he did!

We had to go show Greg and Joanna that strange looking car that was completely home made out of odd parts.  The owner started it up and it actually runs good.
They had all sorts of games and fun things for the kids.  Connor loved the gymnastic course

the petting zoo was a big hit too!  Who doesn't love to cuddle cute little bunnies
