April misc.

Our speed racer is back!  And he's faster than ever
his sweet ride even has a personalized license plate
we're starting a garden from seed this year! C had fun checking our raspberry bushes last summer and plucking the ripe fruit.  I'm hoping we can expand our garden to include more goodies to pluck this summer.
I've been hiding plastic eggs and letting C practice his egg hunting skills
Spring is finally here and we're taking advantage of the nice weather.  We've been bike riding, going for walks and playing in the park as much as we can.
The view from my kitchen window!  The local deer love to snack on the grass just below the park.
Seeing the deer inspired us to go play at the park.  The entire time C was on the swing he kept saying "to infinity and beyond."  He loves Toy Story!

more bike riding.  I think he's ready for a bigger bike this summer

Fools Midnight Run

Lauren and I did the "Only Fools Run at Midnight."  Its a 3.5 mile run through the downtown area of Medical Lake.  The race starts at midnight.  All proceeds from this family friendly event are used in the Lions Clubs sight conservation program.

Pre-race shot of Mango Vodka to get our blood pumping
waiting for the race to start in the Medical Lake high school lunch room.
... and we're off!  I didn't see any official list of how many runners there were, but there was a couple hundred at least.
Lauren ran the race in 46 minutes.  Good Job Lauren!  I ran/walked the race in 53 minutes.  She has the advantage of being 15 years younger than I am, not having nerve damage in her leg and it helps that she's been jogging since she moved in with us.  I suppose I should have started jogging more than 2 days prior to the race.  We both had fun though.  I started and ended in the middle of the pack.  This just shows me that I really  need to start jogging before the Blooms Day race if I want to keep up with Lauren.
 Yeah!  We did it!
And where was J while we were running?  Sleeping!  He stayed home with C and tried to sneak into the guest room and sleep.  Silly guy.  We woke him up when we got home and had a little pillow fight.

Meet Joel

Say Hello to C's new African Dwarf Frog.  He named him Joel.  We're not sure where he even got this name from since he doesn't know anyone named Joel, but he insists that his best friend at daycare is Joel (it's really Zach and Dillon).  Joel is replacing our beta fish, Conrad who passed away while we were on vacation.  Conrad was with us for 14 months.  Hopefully Joel will be with us even longer.

Sunriver

Wednesday we all headed up to Mt. Bachelor for some skiing.  Sue stayed at the house with C.  I was really looking forward to skiing... it's been 17+ years since I've been skiing.  J's gone several times since we've been together, but I think I'm cursed.  Every single time I've tried to go skiing with J we have terrible weather and the mountain gets closed down.  The forecast all week was calling for some great skiing weather today so I was all set to go skiing finally...
snuggling with my goofy husband before heading up the mountain

we pulled into the parking lot to see this... the lodge through rain, fog and 60mph winds.  As soon as we got out of the car we were greeted by skiers headed for their cars telling us to do the same.
Jon, Andrew and JD tromping through the slushy parking lot
 horrible visibility
Cameron and Justin went down 1 run before calling it a day.  The conditions were just horrible.  Jon, Andrew, JD and Lauren met us in the lodge after their run before heading home.  Jason bought a 3 day ski pass, which he only got to use Monday.  And once again, I didn't even get to put on the ski boots.  I've got to break this curse!
JD and C having fun with blocks
Jason, Cameron, Justin and Jon playing basketball.  They headed to the park to play tennis later, but I missed that photo op.

C gobbling up some strawberries.  He loves his fruit!
we took a walk to the park in the sprinkling rain
J, JD, C and Andrew on the marry-go-round
Andrew and JD on the teeter totter.  At one point all 4 boys were on this, but I couldn't get a picture since I wanted to hang onto C just in case.
 tether ball
 my cutie
 chocolate covered strawberries for desert
Lauren dipping her strawberry in the fondue pot.  We brought strawberries, marshmallows and bananas to dip, but the bananas didn't stick around long enough for the fondue.
The boys all decided to watch a UFC match on TV.  So... C, Andrew, JD and myself all watched Toy Story 3 again in the game room.
The pool table and hot tub were both huge hits!
All too soon it was Thursday and time to head home again.
Miles and miles of windmills
On the way to Sunriver Sunday we stopped at this burger place for a potty break and lunch.  We accidentally left C's Sea Hawk cap there.  So, we stopped by again on the way home Thursday... and surprisingly they had his hat waiting.  yeah!
We had several potty breaks on the way home.  J couldn't even wait for a town... potty break on the side of the car.  Right before this we had to stop on the side of the road for C to take a side-of-car-potty-break too.  Too bad I was busy helping him and didn't get any pictures of that one.  Our little guy did excellent on the entire trip.  He didn't have any accidents at all!!  I'm still surprised he managed a 7 1/2 hour trip with only 1 potty break and no accidents.  Plus all the running around and activities we did.  We're so proud of you C!

Sunriver

Tuesday Cameron and Justin went snowboarding, but the rest of us decided to check out the resort instead.  The boys wanted to go shopping in the village.  Andrew and JD went ice skating in the rink to the left after our shopping.

I love this sign.  It was in one of the shops
Andrew and C being goofy modeling sun glasses.  C really wanted the pink pair Andrew is wearing...
but his second choice was this red spider man pair.  Which we were happy to buy the red ones!
We just had to get this shirt.  So cute!  Harley look with a tricycle.
My lucky charm!  I had him pick out a lottery ticket and we won $4.  Profit of $3  =)
When we were driving around checking out the resort we saw this huge herd of elk on the golf course.
Andrew and JD were so amazing with C all week.  They were so good playing with him.  Sue stopped by the store and asked the boys to grab some movies... those sweet little boys knew how much C loves Toy Story so they picked out Toy Story 3 for him.  Which we watched a couple times.
Cameron, Justin and C, waiting for lunch at the bar
JD and C watching Toy Story 3 with some popcorn
C and Cameron with their matching Volcom shirts
Aunt Sue and C chillen after C's bath
Bad dog Miley!
Sue's dog, Miley.  She's actually a really mellow, good dog.  But she managed to get out of the house and run away twice.  The first time it took us several hours to get her back inside.  Luckily she doesn't go far and just hangs around the outside of the house until we can catch her.
Sue taking the Cinnamon challenge.  She didn't believe it was impossible to swallow a spoonful of Cinnamon... until she tried it.
 She tried... she failed.
Every night we relaxed in the hot tub before bed.  Andrew and JD were in and out of the hot tub several times a day.  They loved it.
