Fun Park Day!
Connor running with the Blooms Day Runners Sculptures
First stop... Boo Radley's, which is a goofy, fun store to shop in. I instructed Connor that since he's been such a huge help with his little brother that he could pick out anything he wanted in the store, but only 1 thing. He found a bag of huge plastic insects and a stuffed dinosaur that he wanted. He had a really hard time deciding which one to get, but in the end he chose the large insects.
He's recently taken a liking to grass hoppers. He's always searching for them in the yard, so he really liked the large grass hopper in the collection of big bugs.
Second stop, which was on the same block, Atticus for an iced mocha for me and chocolate milk for Connor.
With Coffee/chocolate milk and bugs in hand we were ready to hit the park finally. First up the garbage eating goat.
Kaiden just chillen' in his stroller... going along for the ride. The park was 100 degree's. The light blanket is not for warmth, but I had to either drape the blanket over his legs for shade or use both stroller covers for shade.
The Wagon with a metal slide was just too hot to play on today
Connor checked out the ducks
Then we went to the playground. Connor dug in the sand and buried his bugs
Kaiden sucked on his 3 fingers
This picture cracks me up. Connor is peaking his head under the shade cover to give Kaiden some love... it looks like Kaiden is screaming "Ahhh someone help me! It's this kid hugging and squeezing me again," but really Kaiden is attempting to get his shoulder strap into his mouth to suck on.
My boys by the stepping waterfall
Connor by the big waterfall. The sun was too bright
Then we sat in the grass under some shade trees for a rest. This is when Connor went into a pouting mode. He decided he was mad that he chose the big bugs over the stuffed dinosaur. He wanted to go back and trade toys. Decisions are hard sometimes and we have to learn to live with the choices we make. We had a little discussion about choosing our attitudes and making the choice to have a great day. But when that didn't turn his frown upside down... Mom knew just what to do! I asked if he wanted to take his new big bugs around the park and take pictures of them exploring the park. His face instantly lit up and his day went from the "worst day ever" to the "best day ever."
My happy little boy just looking around, enjoying the scenery and smiling despite his brothers little melt down.
And my other little boy finally happy and excited about his new bug toys. I didn't see his frown for the rest of the day. He never mentioned the stuffed dinosaur again either.
First stop for his bug picture.. a bench close to where we were relaxing in the grass
at the water fountain. He washed off the two bugs that he buried in the sand earlier
on some rocks at the conservation area
outside the playground area
at the stepping waterfall
climbing a tree
He was going to ride the carousel with his bugs, but decided to spend the money in the .50 cent machine behind him. He won 2 bouncy balls
last stop... the fountain. Connor had a blast running around the fountain, getting soaked and throwing his bugs through the water. When we left he declared it to be the "best day ever."
