Mobius Kids Museum

We checked out the Mobius Kids Museum in Spokane.  Their current theme is "Little Builders."

He loved this water display.  You make funnels for the water and race boats

learning the rules of the road
His other favorite display... the drums
C's legs are a little too short for this bike.
C put on a performance... our musician

 using the crane to build
 rubber-type sand box
back to the water display again
 light display
 magnets
We had so much fun that we bought a year membership.  Yeah!  More fun to come.

Polar Bear Plunge

We watched the Polar Bear Plunge this morning.  I can't believe these people jumped into the frozen lake with 12+ inches of snow on the ground and temperatures around 19 degree's.  But it's for a great cause!  The money raised goes towards the Special Olympics.  We joined the huge crowd of spectators... watching from the side lines all bundled up, sipping our hot mocha's.

There was probably about a dozen groups of people who jumped.  Notice the huge chunks of ice they had to cut to reach the lake.  The ice is about a foot deep.  The bus is parked right on the edge of the beach and everything you see in this picture is actually the lake, back to the tree's.

notice the little kid on the side?  His dad jumped in and then met him at the half way point and they both finished together.  This was the only little kid that was crazy enough to jump.
They had heated tents set up to change and dry off in after the plunge.  They also had this dome set up with hot tubs inside too.

Before we left J ran around the baseball field once with C.  Then it was home to warm up with some hot cocoa and artichoke dip.  I guess I hit a home run with my artichoke dip recipe... I made it for Christmas this year as an appetizer.  J loves it so much he makes it himself every couple weeks.  He made it last weekend when my scrap booking group came over and it was gone within hours.  So, he made a fresh batch to enjoy this weekend.  My dad was so bummed I didn't bring some up with me last weekend when we came to visit that he made my mom call for the recipe so she could make him some.

Snow day

Time to have some fun in the snow while its here.  C and I bundled up and headed out doors to play

The snow is too dry to pack.  No snowman this time.  So, we made a sledding track in the front yard and I got my exercise for the day... half a dozen laps tromping through 12+ inches of snow, pulling a little man who insists we go faster and faster.

When Lauren got home she decided to take a run around our track
and then she bundled up to join us for a walk around the neighborhood.

Happy 21st Birthday Lauren!

Lauren's 21st Birthday didn't exactly go as planned...
Friends and family were scheduled to arrive the day of her birthday 2-24, but instead we woke up to 12+ inches of snow.  All the schools were closed down (including my college).
the wind blew snow drifts all over
Despite her plans being ruined by the weather... we tried our best to make it a memorable 21st birthday.  C and I greeted her with a custom made birthday sign.
Lauren and C freshening up with lip stick kisses before going out to dinner
We took Lauren out to a steak dinner at the Rusty Moose.  Her first legal drink, a Key Lime Pie Martini!

I know it wasn't the night of bar hopping that you had planned with your friends, but hopefully you had a good time anyway.  Happy Birthday Lauren!
And we ended the night with some Oreo cookie ice cream cake

Misc from February

My Valentines card from my sweet boy
I love his smoldering eyes and wild crazy bed head
and this is what he really thinks about lovey dovey valentines stuff... grrr
He loves his new fishing game he got for V-day.
my cutie sporting a spike.  I think he pulls it off good.
I absolutely love this picture C made.  He did it completely on his own.  I think he did a fantastic job.  It looks like a face with curly hair to me.  A pretty darn good face for a 2 1/2 year old too!
My wild man in his favorite PJ's.  He loves his Thomas the Train!
This is also his "going to work" outfit... complete with backpack, hat, gloves, slippers and sun glasses.  I'm not sure what career he's chosen, but he occasionally decides to put on all his gear and then announce to me he's "going to work."
We took a trip up to visit Nana and Papa K.   Spaz has to get some love from C before anyone else can...

 Bye Nana

Chocolate Pops

Lauren and I made some chocolate pops last night.  Our favorite was the snow pops with coconut.  Then we made some chocolate covered strawberries and stayed up until 2am chatting.

okay so the chocolate covered strawberries don't look the prettiest, but they tasted WAY better than they looked.  Trust me they were good... we munched on half a dozen while we were chatting.
