Day with Severin

We had a play date with Severin.  We started with a trip to the college to view some Dinosaur bones!

Then we checked out the Anatomy and Physiology in the new science building at the college.  I completed both A&P classes last year before the new building was completed with a cadaver lab.  Bummer!
Fallyn showing C and Severin a real human tongue.
Then we went to the planetarium for a showing.  It was an hour long, but the boys only lasted 30 minutes.  The pictures on the ceiling were amazing, but the presenter was a little too chatty to keep the attention of toddlers.
The plan was to have a picnic at a nearby park afterward, but a down pour of rain changed that... so we headed for the bounce house instead.  It's always a good time and a great way to burn off some energy!

We had fun and when it was time to go home... C told me he was ready for his nap.  In fact he took my hand and led me to the door.  I'm pretty sure Severin was wore out too.

"Can you see me now?"
C's binoculars
Golf season has begun! I love C's little stance.  Just under 3 and he's already a golf pro.
play date with Max!  Max, C and our neighbor, Vicki
Max and C playing Go Fish
These pictures are for my friend, Tina, who loves crazy wild hair on guys.  C's hair is wild and crazy!  Maybe not as crazy as the lead singer of the Cure, but close.  I love this shaggy look on him, but it's already driving J nuts.  He prefers very short hair on guys.  Oh and if your wondering, C is doing his Buzz Lightyear impression in this picture... shooting the laser on his arm, while waiting for his bath to be ready.

J's birthday desert.  He's not big into cake and pie... so I made his favorite desert, no bake chocolate cookies.  He spent his birthday weekend in Sun River, Oregon on his yearly golf retreat with some close friends.  Beer, BBQ and golf... a guys heaven.

Fantastic Friday

Since I use my blog as my scrapbook/journal, I wanted to capture a day in the life of C.
Our day starts at 7:30am when C wakes up and calls "Mom, where are you?"  He lines up the books he slept with on the rail for me.  He's still sleeping in a crib.  I want to convert his crib to the toddler bed, but J wants to keep him in the crib as long as possible.

He goes potty, gets dressed, picks out a few books to take down stairs with him and brushes his teeth
C watches Curious George while I make breakfast
C gets a nice hot breakfast every morning.  Waffles, scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage (with syrup to dip in.  Grosses J out.  J has to have a separate plate so his syrup doesn't touch anything but waffle), strawberries, peanut butter (which C combines with the sausage and syrup or eats alone by the spoon full) and either chocolate milk or apple juice.  Oh and his Flintstones vitamin.
After breakfast he watches Super Why, which is currently his favorite cartoon.  This is his Super Why attire.  He says it gives him the "Power to Read."  It gives me a few minutes to shower and get ready.
C used to always grab a book from his room and sit in front of the shower in my bathroom and read to me while I took a shower.  Sometimes he chooses to shower with J or I in the morning, but lately he's wanted to take a bath at night and watch his Super Why in the morning instead.  Today he decided to come play on my bed while I got ready.
Mr. serious
First thing on the agenda today... a visit to Sunset park!  We love playing at the park.

He loved this sand box!  It's actually a volleyball court.
real sand mom!  I couldn't find any bags of sand to buy for his sandbox that didn't have a warning about toxic cancer causing dust... so his sandbox at home is filled with pea gravel instead.  Still fun to dig in, but its not sand.
 mother-son moment
After the park we decided to check out the AWH library, but they were closed.  So, we grabbed some McDonald's and headed for the centennial trail.  But first we had a little picnic under this big shade tree.  Followed by a little boy tinkle behind the tree.  We didn't have time to get to the restrooms... we're working on improvising.
C, Buzz and I enjoying our 75 degree day
What a great day to take a stroll on the centennial trail!  Spokane River on one side, a forest of tree's on the other and bright blue sky's above.
And the perfect company to share it with!  Life doesn't get much better than this.
After our walk we were driving home when C said he need to go potty again.  "Hurry! Mom, hurry!  Drive fast."  I knew we didn't have time to get home so we pulled into Walmart and made a run for the bathrooms.  We made it in time and decided to check out their fish afterwards.  They didn't have any dwarf frogs, but we did find a guppy, neon and glo fish to bring home.  C was happy to add some buddies to his tank.
And he announced he was ready for his nap too.  He usually naps from about 2:30-4:30.  Sometimes it even stretches to 5:30.  I turn the monitor on and head downstairs to get some homework and housework done before my wake up call, "Mom, where are you?"
After dinner we took Nala for a walk
And played trucks in the backyard
And gave our garden some extra water.
Our tulips are in bloom.  C picked a few of them to take over to our neighbor.
Jon and Vicki, the best neighbors ever!
Then we came home for some strawberry ice cream and Toy Story movie.
 Followed by a bath.
I love C's shaggy long hair.  We normally keep it pretty short, but for something different I talked J into letting it grow out a little bit.  I think he looks handsome with his shaggy hair.  And it makes for a fun bath time mohawk too!
It's bedtime, 9:30pm.  Now comes the ultra important job of finding the perfect bed time books.
He's ready to read.  He has his stack of books, stuffed Nemo, Buzz PJ's (he also loves his Thomas PJ's) and socks (he hates to be bare foot!  He insists on wearing socks all the time, including to bed).  He also likes to sleep with the radio on christian music or a classical cd.  He's a very light sleeper like me, so the music helps mute any other noises.
Sweet dreams my prince!
J is in Bend, Oregon for his yearly guys golf retreat.  8 guys, 3 days of golf, BBQ and beer!  He should come home well rested.  =)
