After a quick bath Kaiden was back to party time... chatting with uncle John. I made Connor and Ryan twin stuffed monsters, only one had 2 green eyes
and the other a blue and green eye. Ryan chose the blue and green eyed
monster because it reminded him of the Sea Hawks.
The birthday boy, chewing on his new tooth brush. We had a fun party. Happy Birthday my little monster!
The following day (Sunday) Jason left at 5:00am to go out of town for
work for the week. He was gone Sunday 4/19 5:00am - Sunday 4/26
1:00am. I started my new job on Monday 4/20. My first week of
orientation was horrible!! Jason was gone all week, both kids got
sick. Connor was sicker than he's ever been. He ended up missing the
entire week of school! Kaiden was cutting all 4 molars, in pain and
sick. My very first day of orientation I got a call from the school
that Connor was sick. In a panic I was calling anyone I could think of
and finally reached my neighbors across the street (Waylon and Ilona's
parents) and Larry (the dad) and Eley (the Grandpa that lives there)
were able to go pick Connor up from school and bring them to their
house. Connor puked just as they were leaving the school office.
Luckily he never got sick at their house though. I spent all evening in
a panic trying to find someone to watch Connor during the day Tuesday
and Kaiden. My friend Tina, who works from home was able to let Connor
crash on her couch Tuesday and Friday, then he went to my brother John's
on Wednesday and Thursday. Connor spent the first part of the week
puking and second half of the week with diarrhea. Kaiden went to our
flying Irish friend, Kathy's house on Tuesday. She watched him most of
the day and then her sister-in-law Jody (also our flying Irish friend
and Jason's friend/co-worker Bill's wife) came to her house to watch him
for a few hours while Kathy had to leave. Kaiden was able to go back
to daycare for Wednesday - Friday though. OMG it was a horrible week!
Trying to manage my first week of training, which was very intense as
they give you tons of information and send you through computer training
and juggling 2 sick kids... completely on my own since Jason was gone,
and getting no sleep since Kaiden was cutting 4 molars and in pain. Not
fun! On 4/24 Friday Kaiden stood on his own for a long time. On 4/25
his top 2 back molars popped completely through. So, my first week of
training Jason was gone, second week he was home, 3rd week he was gone,
4th week he was gone... not a good start.

Kaiden's birthday (part 3)
Kaiden's birthday (part 2)
Kaiden's monster cake. The day before his party we got a call that the bakeries cake gun that sprays on color broke. So, the original cake we ordered which was a cute monster with sprayed on green and blue colors couldn't be made. Instead they substituted this cookie monster cake. Although the cookie monster cake is cute too, I was still really disappointed that we didn't get the cake we ordered... I wasn't going for a Sesame Street theme. After the circus on Friday Jason and Connor picked up the cakes (Large cookie monster cake for guests and personal small cookie monster cake for Kaiden). I was hesitant to let Jason get the cakes and told him to make SURE they didn't get smashed on the way home... so, what does my husband does... he lets Connor carry the personal small cake to the car and guess what... the entire right side got smashed. UGH! Kaiden's small cake above, large guest cake below. Kaiden wasn't too sure about his cake. He's never really tasted cake or sugary sweets before. His cake had whip cream frosting, so it wasn't nearly as sugary as normal frosting, but it was still too sweet for him. We managed to get him to take a few little bites/licks of the frosting, but that was it. He refused to try the cake portion and he never did really smash his cake. We managed to get him to touch and feel it a little bit, but then he got mad because there was frosting on his hands. Connor used to be the same way... they hate having their hands dirty.
Kaiden's first birthday party (part 1)
I used some of the stuffed monsters I made for the center piece on our table. I also made monster shirts for Connor and I to wear. Kaiden had a special birthday boy shirt with bow tie. I decorated a wall by the front door, across from our formal dinning room with the intention of using it as a back drop for when he eats his birthday cake, but since it was so warm outside (unheard of in April) we took his cake outside instead.

Shrine Circus
To kick off Kaiden's birthday weekend we went to the Shrine Circus at the Valley mall. Kaiden loved the elephants and horses.
Connor's favorite part... Spider-man!
Kaiden stood by himself for the first time on April 14 (not holding onto anything)
