New Years Eve

Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches... that's exactly what we did this New Years Eve.  We had plans to spend New Years Eve with the Trantum's, but then their black lab, Olive injured her leg and will be having a $1400 surgery to fix her ligament as soon as the swelling goes down.  The Trantum's decided to stay home and keep an eye on Olive for New Years.
We also got invited to a party at Staci and Tony's for New Years Eve, but then Staci got really sick.  So sick in fact that she also had to cancel Christmas dinner with her family to stay in bed with a fever.
Our final New Years Eve plan was for the 3 of us to attend the First Night festivities in Spokane.   Jason woke up with a horrible headache on New Years Eve though, so we again canceled our plans.
Final plan: everyone takes a nap and we stay home for New Years Eve to celebrate with the 3 of us.

Connor and I took a nap together in my bed.  Jason took a nap on the couch and his headache felt much better after some sleep.

After our naps I picked up some Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner.  Our beverages of choice for celebrating: Bud Light for Jason and a Bloody Mary for me.
Connor and I started the evening off with a dance party.  Nobody can bust a move like Connor can!
Jason spent most of the evening staring at his ipad.  The last few days he's been addicted to Quibids, which is funny since neither of us like to gamble.  Connor had a blast... he got to watch a couple movies!   We try to limit his TV watching.  So, when he does get a movie it's only 1, which he always asks for a second, but gets told no.  He also got a bowl of chocolate ice cream during his movie.

Happy New Years!

We were all up until 1:00AM!

My first kiss of 2013

Connor got a picture of my second kiss of 2013... Here's to another wonderful year with my incredible boys.  I love you both so much!

sledding

Date Night with the babysitter.  Connor loves going next door to watch movies with Jordan.  He always requests the "Bee" movie.

And date night with my honey!  We decided to see the movie "This is 40."  Perfect timing to get a glimpse of what life is going to be like in 5 months when Jason turns 40!

Sledding with the fun new winter hats Connor and I got.

How lucky is this kid!  He gets a sled ride to the park... mush daddy!
Connor's first ride down the hill.  Since the snow was frozen the sledding was much better than the last time we tried.  We actually got some speed this time!

Connor requested mini pancakes for breakfast... he ate 40!
We all love family game night!  Playing Jenga with my boys

Snow Snake

Oh my!

 being goofy with my boy

instead of building a snowman, Connor wanted to build a snow-snake.  He's really into reptiles.  For Christmas Lauren got him an orange rubber snake (daddy snake), Jason got him a green snake (mommy snake) and I got him a ton of different colored little snakes (babies).

Connor says the funniest things.  Out of the blue this morning he said "Oh-My-God.  I didn't get a yo-yo for Christmas."  Me: "Do you know what a yo-yo is?"  Connor: "no."
Then we were talking about Jason being at work and he said "Dad is kinda like a squirrel... He collects acorns for his job."   LOL  This is probably because Connor was big into collecting acorns and Jason and I would pick them up to bring home to him.

Christmas Day

Connor woke up at 6:30!  I talked him into climbing into bed with me for an hour before we woke Jason up though.  Then he raced down stairs (snake in hand) to see if Santa had come.

Wow!  Santa left white foot prints

And he ate all the yummy sugar cookies Connor left for him!  We grabbed the bowl from the front porch and found the reindeer had gobbled up all the carrots too... there were just a few crumbs and a nibbled carrot left.

Connor was so excited for dad to open the gift he picked out for him at the Santa Express.  A key chain light and butterfly.
Then Connor ripped into his presents under the tree
and his stocking Santa filled by the fireplace.

checking out the silly putty Santa put in his stocking
and the cool lady bug and grass hopper that walk down windows.
Connor got almost everything that was on his list this year.  A stuffed cheetah, a purple stuffed dragon that talks, a rock polisher, some soft fleece pants and sweat shirts (yes, he requested some Old Navy fleece clothes), a Crayola glow book, a kit to makes all kinds of cool forts (listed as THE gift this year), Angry Birds game, new book, several rubber snakes, lots of purple cars, batman toys and more.
Connor and Jason got me a WSU sweatshirt, WSU Christmas ornament, gift card and movie tickets.
Connor and I got Jason a pair of hiking/rain shoes that he wanted.  He also bought himself a pair... just in case there wasn't a pair under the tree.  He also got a heart monitor for running, a game he said he played when he was a kid and loved called LCR, chocolate covered nuts and a variety of specialty beers.
After all the gifts were open and our bellies were full.. Connor jumped in the bath with his new rubber snakes.  He actually asked me to take the fish out of his tank and fill it with real snakes.  I opted to get him some rubber snakes instead and he seems pretty happy with that decision.
Then Nana and Grandpa arrived.  Connor was excited to get his purple pony from them. Notice a theme here... purple! purple! purple!  Connor got Nana a Snow Baby figurine with an owl.  He actually wanted a Snow Baby with a Peregrine falcon, but since they don't make that he picked out the owl.  Grandpa got a years subscription to one of his woodwork magazines, his favorite candy and the same joke gift that I made for Jason.

Connor managed to talk dad into building a butterfly with his new Puzzibits 3D art.
Connor was glued to Grandpa's side all morning.
Christmas dinner.  My brother, John and his family: Laura, Ryan and Alivia (Madison was at her boyfriends house), my parents and our family.
Jason built a rocket out of Connor's new fort kit.
After dinner we all played board games (except the little boys who had a blast playing down stairs in the play room... and Grandpa who wasn't feeling good so, he took a nap).  First we played the new game Jason got for Christmas... LCR.  Then we played scattergories and sipped on the wonderful wine John and Laura brought and ate the yummy desert Nana brought.

Grandpa snoozing with some of Connor's snakes
Spider-man and Batman
John, Ryan, Laura and Alivia (with Connor sneaking in)
Jason, Connor and Krista
Grandpa, Buster, Connor and Nana
After everyone left we colored the pages to his new glow book
I feel so blessed!  We had a perfect Christmas!
