Our last full day in San Diego we decided to spend at the beach playing in the sand again. We built sand castles, the boys dug a big hole, we walked the beach, we walked up the stream and soaked our feet in the warm water. For lunch we stopped at In and Out burger. Back at the hotel we swam in the pool, soaked in the hot tub and packed up our stuff to leave in the morning. We went back to Belching Beaver for dinner again. We had another great meal with our PB ale. I ordered a smaller beer this time. After dinner we stopped on the way back to the hotel and I picked us up ice cream treats. After breakfast the next morning we took off for the rental car place to return the car and head to the airport. We had a fun vacation and loved exploring Legoland and relaxing on the beaches, but after 9 days we were definitely ready to go home. On one of our first trips to the beach, where the clams were covering the beach Connor decided to fill his pockets with clams (even though we told him not to bring any back to the hotel) and he put them in a cup of water at the hotel and left them on the bathroom counter. We told him they would die and stink, but he insisted they would live and he would return them to the ocean the next time we went. Well a few days later they died and they stunk like crazy! We threw them out and it took an entire day for the smell to go away. Hopefully it taught Connor to listen to his parents.. they might actually know what they are talking about sometimes.
today was a lazy morning. The boys slept in until 9:30am. We had breakfast in our PJ's downstairs. Then we checked out the discovery center that we drove past every day on our way to Legoland. This was the first day it was actually open, but they were setting up for a birthday party, so we just did the hiking trail. Then we stopped at Subway to get lunch and pack some of their sandwiches for dinner at Legoland. We took our sandwiches to a nearby park for a picnic. Then it was off to Legoland. First stop- the aquarium. We had heard the aquarium was small, but we were all impressed with what a great job they did. They had tons of fish and fun exhibits. We were there for about an hour, but we loved it. We went on more rides and played more games. Connor and Kaiden played a fish game and both won an orange stuffed fish. After our Subway dinner we enjoyed an ice cream treat and then watched the fireworks at the entrance of Legoland. They let the fireworks off in the parking lot to avoid debree falling on people. It was the perfect view. By this time Kaiden had fallen asleep in my arms and missed the entire firework show.
