Eggnog

We made the homemade Eggnog from the Harry Potter cook book.  Jason doesn't typically like Eggnog at all, but he even said this recipe was good!  We're loving this new cook book!!

Ice Skating

We took the boys ice skating downtown.  At first Kaiden hated it because he kept falling.  So, we came in for a break and when we went back out to try again he used a bucket, which is what they give little kids to help with balance.  Then he loved it.  Connor started using a bucket too, although it was too short for him to really use well.  Afterwards we went to Soulful Soups for dinner and hot chocolate.

More painting.. Jason had bought pure white gloss Behr paint (left) and I bought Simply White Sherwin Williams paint (right).  What a difference!

 For fun I bought the boys a Harry Potter cook book. It gives recipes to some of the meals you see in the movie/books.  We made the homemade hot chocolate recipe.  OMG it was good!  Very rich with a dark chocolate desert taste.

 For dinner we made the Mulligatawny soup.  Again, very tasty!

Christmas with Kortus's

update on our living room project.  Jason finished building and I started painting.  After several coats of paint I learned that the quality of paint matters.. a LOT.  Jason had bought some Behr paint, which we used in our last house and loved.  The quality of paint has changed.  I know this for a fact because I used some of our old Behr paint (6+ years old) and the quality is completely different from the new paint we just bought.  Sad.  The new Behr paint is like painting with a watery glue.  It's sticky, thin and dries really fast, which makes it hard to paint without roller lines.  After some research I bought some Sherwin Williams paint and OMG what a difference!  It's like painting with smooth butter vs watery glue!  It only takes 1-2 coats with the SW since it's thicker.  The Behr paint I used to redo Connor's room took 4-5 coats and was sooo difficult to work with.  I love the SW paint!

For Christmas this year we met my brother and his family, my parents and Staci at Red Robin downtown.  I wanted to have a Christmas dinner at our house, but Laura and John wanted a quick dinner downtown since John had to work.   My parents came back to our house afterwards and spent the night.  The next day we did our Christmas dinner with our family and grandma and grandpa.  Then they went home and we spent the rest of the day playing board games as a family.
