4th of July

Fireworks are legal in our small town, but since it's been so hot and dry the city sent out notices asking people to not set fireworks off.  For that reason we didn't buy any fireworks.  At dinner time Connor asked if he could still do sparklers and pop it's though... so, Jason and Connor ran to the firework stand and bought a few little fireworks.  We pulled up some chairs and joined 2 of our neighbors to watch the firework show... since some of our neighbors still bought fireworks.  Earlier in the evening before dusk our neighbor 2 houses over (the Farmens) caught a tree in their backyard on fire when they were letting fireworks off.  They managed to get the fire out before the fire department arrived though and didn't let off any fireworks after that.  That was the only fire that we heard of all evening.

 Waylon, Ilona and Connor playing with sparklers.  Kaiden was in bed before dusk, so he missed all the fireworks and slept through the noise.  Dani and I were sitting behind the kids visiting.  (Larry had to work)
