Jason's 40th Birthday Party

We had a small get together with friends at the Red Lion BBQ restaurant to celebrate Jason's 40th.  I made chocolate cake pop's dipped in white chocolate and decorated with silver sugar sprinkles, silver bows and silver mini cupcake cups.  They turned out perfect.  They looked very elegant and tasted divine!  Jason even loved them, which is saying a lot since he doesn't like cake!

Connor was so excited.  He got to spend the evening with our next door neighbor (and baby sitter) Jordan.  He loves going to Jordan's house... it means he gets to watch movies on a big screen.

Chuck E Cheese

Connor had fun playing some games with another little guy at Chuck E Cheese... these two were hilarious!  So much alike... from their similar personalities to their matching red bills.

Jason and I had a friendly competition on the football game.  I think it shocked him when I actually beat him a few games.  Connor helped both of us.

camping

at Hope Resort.  This was Connor's first camp trip outside of our backyard.  We originally were thinking of camping all Memorial weekend, but changed our mind because of the cooler temperatures.  Connor usually camps in his superman tent in our yard, but since it was chilly we decided the three of us would cuddle together in the big tent.

I zipped 2 sleeping bags together, put an air mattress under us, and extra sleeping bag on top of us and Connor's Tinkerbell blanket.  The boys did fine and stayed nice and cozy all night.  I was freezing cold half the night though.  The temperature dropped down to the 40's at night.  Brrrr

I'm not usually a beer fan, but I can handle the light beers.  Jason on the other hand likes his beer thick and dark... like tar!  LOL
The camp ground has a small play ground

Connor wanted s'mores, which was the only thing we forgot to pack.  But Jason ran to the nearby store and bought all the fixin's for s'mores.  Then stole the s'more I was about to eat.  =)
Connor still prefers his s'mores separated.. toasted marshmallow first, cube of chocolate next and gram cracker to crunch on last.
For the last few weeks Connor has been addicted to watermelon.  He asks for it at every meal.  So, of course I packed some for our camping trip.
We had several deer pass right by our camp site.  Two deer (doe and fawn) even decided to bed down just feet from our tent.
Me and Connor snuggling down for bed.  Yes, I slept with my coat on and I was still cold.  I didn't actually get warm enough to fall asleep until I snuggled in close to Connor and Jason, who were radiating heat!
The next morning after breakfast we took another walk down to skip more rocks.
Then we drove into Sandpoint and walked all over town exploring their cute shops and farmers market with live music
Connor explored a fun play ground on the Sandpoint beach
There must have been a dozen groups of swans!  Each group had 2 adult swans and several babies.

Jason loved this... Sandpoints drive through convenience store.  No need to get out of your car

Jason's 40th birthday

Connor and I surprised Jason on his birthday by decorating his car with balloons at work.  And since he's not fond of being the center of attention I texted him as soon as we left to warn him... he immediately ran outside, sent a thank you text back and then hid the evidence in his car.  =)

Since his birthday was on a Thursday he went to the Flying Irish run after work. Connor and I met him there and brought some suckers to celebrate after his run.

Jason and Tina.. enjoying a cold beer after their run

Everyone had fun with the suckers.  It took us down memory lane.  Some towns (like mine) used to give out free suckers to anyone who turned in a wrapper with an Indian shooting a star.
Jason wasn't the only one celebrating a big birthday.  Another guy was celebrating his 50th birthday and shared some cup cakes with us.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY JASON !!!
