Chataqua

Chewelah, Washington's 37th annual Chataqua fair was this weekend.  Chataqua is held every summer at the 8 acre Chewelah park.  We love the summer festival.  The entire park is covered with booths selling home-made items, the parking lot is turned into a carnival with rides and game booths, the center stage provides nonstop live music and entertainment, and the back section of the park will make your mouth water with yummy treats.

C and I drove to my parents house to join them for some Chataqua festival fun!  C has become quiet the little back seat driver lately.  This is a typical conversation:
C:    Go mom! go!
me:  The light is red C.  Red means stop.  Green means go.
C:    Go mom!  The light is green, go!
me:  Yes, the light is green now, but do you see the car in front of us?  We can't go until the car in front of us goes or we'll hit their car.
C:   Oh.  Go car! go!

My parents greeted us as we pulled up to their house.  C was very excited to see his grandparents.  The wooden bear above their door is an example of my dad's new hobby.  He makes amazing wood crafts!
Papa picking some goodies from his garden, which is doing amazing!  I wish I could say the same about mine...

no visit to papa and nana's would be complete without some Spaz lovin'
Then it was off to explore the booths at Chataqua
my brother and his family met us there.  I got to spend some cuddle time with Ryan
Nana pushing C while I cuddled Ryan

Madison and Alivia checking out the Hammer carnival ride... debating on if they were brave enough to give it a try (Madison and John went on it).  I happened to catch John sneaking up on Madison in the picture too.
Alivia was sweet enough to go on this ride with C.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to let him go alone yet.  So Alivia rode in the seat behind him... just in case.

Ryan pointing something out to Papa.  Ryan is so cute.  He's a man of little words.  He grabs your hand and leads you to whatever it is he wants and points.
Alivia and Ryan relaxing after our yummy pulled pork sandwiches and chocolate and carmel covered apples that John and Laura bought.
Since C did so great on the ride with Alivia.. I finally decided to let him ride alone.  He loved it!  He went on this ride twice by himself.

We let Ryan use the stroller for the walk back to Nana and Papa's house.  Since we drove it was a lot shorter walk for us than for them.  Papa carried C back to the car.

Ryan's grumpy face... don't even think about taking these forks!
I can keep the forks?  Yeah!  Back to all smiles
My aunt Geri helping collect parking funds for the high school seniors.  Her daughter (my cousin) Kathy is a senior this year!
back at Nana and Papa's... John and C lovin' on Spaz.  Spaz is actually John's cat from high school, he just lives with Nana and Papa now.
Ryan enjoying the grandkids rocking chair
Chase!  This was so much fun to watch.  C and Ryan would race from the back door, through the kitchen to the rocking chair in the living room.  C being a year older won the race every time so he got to rock in the chair for a few seconds before Ryan was ready to race from the chair to the back door again.  Both boys were laughing so hard.
