We joined some friends for the Spokane Valley Cycle Celebration bike race. There were 3 races: 50 miles, 25 miles and 10 miles. All the races started off on the centennial trail, but then road through some streets in Spokane. We had race bibs, but none of the races were officially timed. For our group of friends, here's who participated in each race.
The 50 mile Hills around the Valley ride started at 8:00- Jason, Greg Wallwebber, Greg Mead, Bill Franks, Tony Clark and Brent.
The 25 mile Adventure ride started at 9:00- Jody Franks, Kathy Semmler
The 10 mile Family Friendly ride started at 9:30- Krista and Connor, Joanna Wallwebber, Bill Semmler

When Jason signed us up for this race a few weeks ago the first thing Connor asked was "Oh, do we get a fabulous shirt?" He's figured out that pretty much every race includes a new shirt. Here is our "fabulous" shirt for this race, which it really is a nice shirt and not a cotton t-shirt.
I didn't get a chance to snap a before shot of the 50 mile riders before they took off. Jason is in the middle of the picture just in front of the tree in the green shirt and Greg Wallwebber is behind the tree in the yellow shirt.

my 13 year old mountain bike pulling his tag-along bike. The day before the race we went shopping. Jason and Connor got new puma shirts for the race. Connor is puma from head to toe with his new puma shoes too.

We up with Bill just as the race started, but I didn't get a chance to get his picture until after the race
We did it. Although Connor complained for the entire first half of the race. About the first 6 miles of our race followed the centennial trail along the river, which the tall pine tree's shadowed the trail and he complained that he was cold. "Why don't they cut these trees down. I'm cold. Let's just go back to the car. I want a blanket." Whine, Whine, Whine! Around the 6 mile marker there was an aid station with water and snacks. Connor got a pack of M&M with the agreement that he would not complain for the rest of the race. The rest of the race after that was on Spokane streets in the sunshine, so he was happy.

After the race we came home to relax and play in the yard. I filled the duck that Connor used to take bath's in when he was a baby with warm water and he played in that for a while.
