Our family took a 19 day road trip in our RV. We started in Washington and drove through Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho and circled back to Washington. We got the chance to see so many spectacular sights and loved our vacation. When we started this endeavor I thought for sure we would all be sick of each other and living in a 32 foot box for 3 weeks, but actually it was the complete opposite. We loved spending 24-7 together and we loved living in our RV. In fact Jason and I have since started talking about buying a newer RV after the kids graduate high school, sell our house and living full time in the RV while we travel the world. The only thing we all wish we could have done differently with this road trip is to spend more time in each location. We felt a bit rushed at times, but in order to travel through 8 states in only 3 weeks we had to keep moving. I packed the RV with everything we would need, but I totally forgot my camera. I used to bring my camera everywhere, but the last few years I use my iphone as my camera and rarely remember to bring my nice Canon camera with me now.
We left Tuesday June 25th after Jason got home from work at 4:15pm. Our starting mileage was 53,540. Jason insisted that we switch places driving while en route. He refused to pull over to switch places. I did half of the driving (about 2 1/2 hours) and towards the end I scared Jason to death. He drove the entire rest of the trip with the exception of about 15 minutes when he took a potty break. Our first stop was at Stonehenge. Then we drove to the Memaloose rest stop to boondock for the night.
The Maryhill Stonehenge is a replica of England's Stonehenge located in Maryhill, Washington. It was commissioned in the early 20th century by the wealthy entrepreneur Sam Hill, and dedicated on 4 July 1918 as a memorial to the people who had died in World War I.
The memorial is constructed of concrete, and construction was commenced in 1918 and completed in 1929.
