Nana and Papa's

Connor and I spent the day visiting Nana and Papa.  Jason stayed home to read more of his book and study.  Nana went to the park with us to meet Matt and his daughter, Peyton for a play date.

Connor and Peyton.  Peyton is 4 months younger than Connor, but she's already taller than Connor.  I guess that's what happens when both your parents are 6 feet tall.

After the park we had to drop Nana off.  Matt picked up some happy meals for the kids and we went to a different park for a picnic and more fun.  Papa joined us at this park and when Nana was done with her errands she joined us too.

Papa had fun talking to the kids through the tubes

Nana turned a movie on for Peyton and Connor to watch.  They were both pretty tired from all the running around at both parks.  Right after I took this picture Connor curled up on the couch with a blanket.  He didn't go to sleep until we got in the car to head home though.

Friday Fun

Today's agenda: window art

Marshmallow wars!  We made these fun marshmallow shooters and then had a marshmallow war in our kitchen.  The shooters are made by cutting the bottom off a plastic cup and attaching a cut balloon.  They work incredibly well, which is why we sat on the kitchen floor to have our war (easier to find and collect all the marshmallows when we were done).  The only problem I had was shooting the marshmallows before Connor ate them all.  They were fresh game out of the bag, but once they touched the floor they were only for shooting and not for eating!

We also painted some of our ornaments we made earlier in the week.

Three projects Thursday

Today we had a picnic at a park in Cheney and then Connor did some climbing.. he's such a little monkey!

Am I talented or what?  Connor climbed on my shoulders to reach the monkey bars and I still managed to get a picture.

After the park it was time for the science projects.  Yes, I am a science nerd... well it's a combo of the fact that I am a science geek and the fact that I really want Connor to look back on his childhood and smile.  My ultimate goal is that some day I will over hear Connor telling his friends that his mom ROCKS!  Which he tells me all the time that I'm awesome, so I must be doing something right.

First project: Lava Lamp.  2/3 oil, 1/3 water, food coloring (purple of course) and you drop in Alka Seltzer tablets.  The purple bubbles to the top just like a lava lamp.  It actually works pretty good.  Although I think next time I'll use a more transparent oil.

Second Project: rock candy.  Sugar, water, food coloring and sticks.  We made two- purple and orange.  They actually take a week to fully form the rock candy.  We plan to pull the sticks out every day to check the progress.

Third Project: Glow Sticks.  When Jason got home from his Flying Irish run the two boys jumped in the bath tub together and I turned out the lights and threw in some glow sticks.  This was probably the funnest bath ever!

We also put a glow stick inside a balloon, which was fun.  And broke a glow stick open to put inside a jar (its suppose to be like fire flies) and added the inside of the glow stick to bubble solution (but it wasn't dark enough outside to tell if this worked or not).

Wednesday Wonders

We needed a break from science projects to enjoy the sunshine.  So, we picked up some McDonald's lunch and hit the AWH park for a picnic.

Terrific Tuesday

I had some outdoor activities planned for today, but apparently Mother Nature didn't get that memo.  So, we had fun with some more science projects.

First up: milk art.  Pour some milk into a pan, add a few drops of food coloring and then dip a tooth pick into dish soap.  Touch the colors and watch the cool patterns that form when the color tries to avoid the soap.

Next we tried to make a jelly fish project.  You cut and tie a plastic bag that is suppose to bob up and down in the water, but we couldn't get the correct mixture of water and air in the jelly fish head for this to work.  Ours either sunk to the bottom or floated on the top.  Oh well.

And lastly we made some ornaments out of salt and flour.

Spiderman (upside down), a spider, heart with Connor and my thumb prints, Connor's hand print and a bunch of stars.
This is the white flower with dyed purple/blue edges from yesterday's project.
