To start Ryan's 3rd Birthday party off we got a tour of Fire Station #9 on the Spokane South Hill.
We saw the kitchen, living room
the old panel where calls for fires would come in
Then we got to see the big red fire truck! And the fire fighters. The part Connor and Ryan were waiting for!The boys didn't recognize a fire fighter without all his gear on, so he put all his stuff on so they could see what a real fire fighter looks like.
Alivia, Ryan, Madison, Connor and our tour guide Fire Fighter
He put the mask on so the boys could hear what it sounds like when he breaths. I didn't know the masks come equipped with built in glasses. Very cool!
Ryan trying a fire fighter helmet on for size
Connor's turn. Wow, this helmet is way heavier than your Halloween Fire Fighter helmet! Good thing your Uncle John is helping to hold it.The boys got to see the inside of a fire truck.
Connor on the front bumper
and checking things out from the drivers seat
Wow, Ryan those are some big tires!
wall of coats, hats and boots

Madison and Kale
Did you know fire trucks usually have 9-10 hoses on board?
Best buds: Ryan and Connor
Nana and Papa Kortus
That is one big hose!
We couldn't have planned the end of our tour any better... just as we were finishing up a call came and the fire truck and two fire fighters headed out of Fire Station #9. A perfect ending to our fun and educational tour.
Me and Connor.
