Banff, Day 2

Kaiden insisted on dressing up to cross the border. He said he wanted to make a good impression on Canada. We stopped to stretch our legs and walk around a river.  Canada has these great Wildlife over passes all over with tall fences so the animals can't get onto the HWY, which is fantastic because we did see lots of wild animals (deer, elk, sheep). Next stop was Peyto lake, which is a glacier fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, near the ice-fields parkway. You have to hike up a paved trail .6 km each way to see the lake. 26 M elevation. The water is the most beautiful teal color! We camped that night at Rampart Creek Campground. Right after we arrived and set up camp Kaiden went outside to ride his bike around on the campground road right by our site. He was only riding for a few minutes and came running into our RV. A black bear was wondering through the campground flipping over rocks and searching for berries. He didn't seem the least bit concerned with the campers (who all gave him space). He walked around our RV and wondered back into the woods. We talked to some Canadian campers who said it's very common to see black bears and they never bother people. It's the grizzlies that you have to worry about! Lucky for us we never saw any grizzlies. Although we did carry bear spray and bells everywhere that we went. Kaiden and I played the Minecraft game that night too. Connor was obsessed with his new book series (Heroes of Olympus) and read every chance he could get. He loves Greek Mythology.
