Discovery park

Kaiden is now 12 weeks old.  On 7-10-14 he changed his sleeping habit and slept from 10:00pm to 5:00am.  Since the day he was born he's been sleeping at night, but for the first month he was up every 2 hours to eat.  Around a month old he started sleeping from 10-2 and then he was up every 2 hours to eat.  Now at 3 months his routine is to sleep from 10-4:30/5:00 and then get up to eat and go back to sleep until 7:00.  Both boys typically get up around 7:00, which is when Jason wakes up for work.  By the time Jason leaves or shortly after I usually have both kiddo's in our bed snuggling with me for a few minutes before we start our day.
Connor's bedtime during the school year is 8:30/9:00-6:30/7:00.  We're more relaxed in the summer since he can sleep in, but we try to have him in bed by 9:30/10:00.
I had to run some errands in Spokane and I try to balance shopping/errands with fun time for Connor.  He's such a fantastic helper and great little shopper that I like to reward him.  So, today we spent some time at Discovery Park.

Kaiden and I watched Connor run around from the shady picnic area
Connor playing in the sand box area.  This seems to be a favorite spot in the park for most kids, but I heard several parent making their kids leave the sand box because they didn't want them to get their clothes dirty or to get sand in their car.  That's just sad and poor planning on the parents side!  I keep a summer bag in my car with a change of clothes, sun screen, beach towel, sun glasses, disinfectant, sand toys (castle bucket, shovel, rake, etc) and some snacks... just for such occasions.  This comes in handy when I'm trying to get 2 kids out the door too.  We just need to fill our water bottles with ice water and we're ready to go.  I also keep a diaper bag in the car with any supplies Kaiden might need... and a stroller in the trunk.  So, any time we're out shopping or running errands we're prepared for an impromptu visit to a park for some fun play time.  After all, this is summer break and kids should be allowed to enjoy their time off from school... and they should be allowed to be kids and do what kids enjoy doing, which means play in huge sand boxes and build masterpieces without fear of getting in trouble for getting dirty.
Connor likes to follow up playing in the sand box with running around the splash pad to cool down
Kaiden was smiling and having fun watching his brother play.  Next year he won't have to watch from the side lines... he'll be big enough to join his big brother in all the fun.  But until then I'll savor all the cuddles and smiles I can.
Connor making music on the pipes

Connor scaling the rock wall.  I didn't even realize this wall was designed for climbing until he scaled it.  Apparently he caught the eye of some little girls too, who probably didn't know you could climb the rock wall either.  They attempted to climb up after Connor, but didn't succeed.
A nice, relaxing swing before we headed home to cool down.  The temperature was in the 90's today.
